Athlete Categorisation

As per the normal strategy in regard to Australian Institute of Sport's categorisation, we have now arrive at the next round.

The Australian Winning Edge (AWE) is an initiative from the Australian Sports Commission to reposition Australia to being a world leader is sport performance. Developed in partnership with Australia's high performance network, AWE provides the high performance sports sector with clear performance targets and a framework for collaboration from 2012 through to 2022.

Athletes are invited to apply for categorisation consideration and the following documentation and information is provided.

Please note that applications close at 5:00pm (AEST) on Friday 18 November 2016.

Athlete Transition Event

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) is inviting Olympians and all current athletes to attend the inaugural AOC Athlete Transition Events, designed to address athlete wellness and career progression post the Olympic Games. 

Whether athletes are considering retiring or not, these sessions provide practical advice on navigating a transition into a new career now or in the future. Sessions will be held initially in Melbourne (18 Nov), Sydney (24 Nov) and Brisbane (29 Nov) with a view to expand the program across other States.

We request that Clubs encourage their athletes to avail themselves of this opportunity to assit them to prepare when they retire from the sport.

Board Appointments

With the recent election of new directors the Board is pleased to report the following appointments.

Events and Team Manager

We are pleased to announce that following a recruitment process that John Gradisar has been appointed to the position of Events and Team Manager.

John's core responsibilities are to implement a strategy to build event participation and standard in Australia, build and lead an Events workforce to deliver high quality Taekwondo events, and to manage and co-ordinate all Australian Taekwondo teams that are selected to represent Australia at international competitions.

2016-17 Events Calendar

The Events Calendar for 2016-17 is provided as a "heads up" of currently planned national and international events. Several other national events are in the final planning stages for 2017 and these will be released as soon as dates and venues are confirmed.
