Taekwondo For All

large-image

To reflect the main purpose of the National Organisation a new trading name ‘Australian Taekwondo’ and logo have been adopted.  The new logo is contemporary and reflects that Taekwondo is for all and not just the sport.

The new logo represents the traditional white clothing and black sash of the Taekwondo uniform, against the green of the Australian Olympic team.

New badges will be distributed from December this year when clubs renew their registrations for 2017.

This is a new and exciting phase for the organisation and the new branding will shortly be reflected in our website, eNews, Facebook and Team Clothing with the World Junior Championships Team being first off the mark followed by the Oceania Championships Team.

Kyorugi Referee Presenters Course

In the new year we will embark on the implementation of new accreditation courses for our official and coaches, and the first one off the rank will be the Kyorugi Referee courses.

In preparation for this, next month we are holding a Kyorugi Referee Presenters course with suitably qualified referees from the states and territory attending. The aim of the course is to qualify referees as presenters for their states so that the accreditation courses can be scheduled and run.

The Referee Course material has been developed by the Kyorugi Officiating Committee and we would like to acknowledge the work of Sally Bound in pulling all of this together for us.
Adrian Hitch has kindly agreed to run the two day Referee Presenter Course which will be held in Melbourne next month.

2017 Events Calendar

The 2017 Calendar is being finalised and at this stage we are able to advise that Selection Event for the WTF World Senior Taekwondo Championships will be held in Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport in late February 2017. We are currently working through the Selection Policy for the World Championships and when finalised the package for the event will be released.

The National Championships are also likely to return to Bendigo in early October 2017. This will be a club based event and will be inclusive of colour and black belt grades. Also in the planning phase are a series of competitions targeted to elite athletes.

In addition in 2017 we will launch a Taekwondo Festival themed event which in addition to the traditional poomsae and sparring divisions, will also include breaking, family oriented poomase and tricking. Further details will be released once the program has been finalised.
