Dear Supporter

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past few months.  We have been touched by all the support we've received this month in particular, for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  An important month for us to increase awareness of childhood cancer, the vital support we provide, and to raise funds to enable our support to continue.

A special thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated in this year's Sunday Mail City-Bay Fun Run in support of CCA.  Collectively you helped us reach our target of $20,000 - congratulations and thank you!!

We hope you enjoy the read :)

Sunday Mail City-Bay Fun Run

Over 100 people joined Team Elliot this year to help us raise awareness and much needed funds during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

We would like to thank Immanuel Primary School students and families who joined our team for the second year!  It was quite something to see you at the CCA marquee after your 3km walk, literally a sea of yellow shoe laces!

We also loved catching up with Team Chantelle Alvaro who have been walking in the City to Bay and fundraising for the Association since 2014 in memory of their daughter Chantelle.

We were truly blown away by the support we received from each and every one of you and are really proud to share that Team Elliot reached its target of $20,000!  (Special thanks to Count Charitable Foundation for getting us over the line with a $5K donation in support of Team Chantelle Alvaro).

Funds raised in this year’s City to Bay Fun Run will go towards:
- Our daily hospital visits to children and families at the Women's & Children's Hospital
- Professional counselling to children, siblings, parents, grandparents and extended family members.

We would like to thank our sponsors Bakers Delight and Palmdale Butcher from North Adelaide Village for donating bread and sausages for our fundraisers barbeque. They were very much appreciated by all and gone in no time!

Also a special thank you to Andy, Catherine, Niamh and Zoe our volunteer chefs for the day :)

Elliot was of course delighted to catch up with you all and cannot wait to do it all again next year!

Community Fundraising Champions

Georgia - $2,320.75
We are so grateful to young Georgia, who not only raised $2,320.75 for CCA, but also donated her beautiful long hair to the hospital.  Georgia originally set a target of $1,000, but made that amount in just 24 hours and so had to revise her target to $2,000, which she then proceeded to exceed.  Thanks so much for your unselfish and caring act Georgia.  You are truly inspiring. Shawn & Laura’s Cocktail Event - $2,829.65
Shawn Haverland & Laura Healy wanted to get involved with not only the Ultimate Pie Challenge, but create a whole event around it.  This became “Shawn & Laura’s Cocktail Event” which was a huge success raising $2,829.65.  Thank you Shawn and Laura for your hard work, dedication and fantastic event. Five Bridge Club - $200
Pam and the members of the Five Bridge Club of Victor Harbor, love to raise funds for Bradley's Place to help CCA keep it in tip top shape for our families, this time making a lovely donation of $200 which helps towards the cleaning bills for our respite accommodation.  Bradley's Place is very special for so many of our families, we really appreciate your support.

Bridget Jones's Movie Fundraiser

Maria Morris, one of our regular volunteers, had the brilliant idea to organise a Movie Night Fundraiser during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and it’s fair to say it was a huge success!

There was a lot of laughter at the Capri Theatre last Friday night, the room was actually in hysterics the entire time!

Seriously, what could be better than catching up with a couple of girlfriends for the screening of the latest Bridget Jones's Movie and all for a great cause?

Thanks to our sponsors Shottesbrooke and Paris Creek, who kicked off the night in style with cheese platters and bubbles!  And some left the evening extra lucky after winning our raffle with some fantastic prizes donated by Dare Hair, Facialista’s and Tickled Pink!

We are thrilled to share that the event raised over $2,500 for the Association which is a terrific result!

A very big thank you goes to Maria and her friend Bernadette, the Capri Theatre and all our sponsors.

Victor Harbor Farmer's Market

Located in the Grosvenor Gardens in Victor Harbor, the Victor Harbor Farmers Market (VHFM), facilitates a weekly market where local producers of predominately fresh produce and food can promote and sell their products to the general public. The market has up to thirty quality stall holders which helps keep many local residents of the Fleurieu Peninsula self-employed and farming.

VHFM are proud supporters of many local charities, including the Childhood Cancer Association. The markets have supported CCA for five years by providing a Guest Member Badge to families who stay at Bradley’s Place. Families are able to enjoy a 10% discount when shopping with the stall holders and are also very fortunate to receive a $20 voucher from Victor Fish. From October, several other stall holders will join Victor Fish in offering vouchers to families which in total will equate to $75 in value.

VHFM is hoping to raise awareness of CCA and Bradley’s Place by hosting a CCA fundraising day on Saturday October 8. There will be many activities on the day as well as the wonderful local produce available. They will be asking for a gold coin donation for children’s activities and various food producers will donate portions of their sales for the day.

Thank you to the Victor Harbor Farmer’s Market, Victor Fish and the other stall holders for their ongoing support.

We're looking for your feedback!

We've been presented with a new fundraising opportunity through Travel company Crooked Compass...but we wanted to throw it out to our supporters first, to get expressions of interest.

Do any of these interest you??

Booze Brothers support Bradley's Place

Bradley’s Place, was opened in 2004 in Lower Inman Valley, to provide much needed respite to children with cancer and their families, throughout treatment and also for bereaved families. The home provides children with cancer and their families a special place away from some of the stresses and demands that come with a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Bradley’s Place is well used by many families throughout the year, with approximately 42 families staying at the house each year.

With the high occupancy of the house, there is a large amount of wear and tear on the furniture and equipment. This means from time to time we are required to upgrade features on the property to ensure that when families arrive, they have everything they need and can enjoy the much needed family time in well maintained accommodation.

Subsequently, we have been incredibly fortunate to receive funding from the Booze Brothers Staff Charitable Fund which enabled us to purchase a much needed new leather couch, so that families can relax and be comfortable when they stay in the home.

Thank you to the Booze Brothers Staff Charitable Fund.
